3 BOWL OPEN TRIPLES

Sponsored by Brian Hardcastle

in Memory of  his Wife, Councillor Winnie Lowes

Saturday 13 August 2016

Despite being a very windy day, it was warm and sunny, with plenty of spectators at

As usual, there was a full complement of rinks with 24 sets of triples

from Cramlington Bowling Club and other Clubs from around the region.

Once again,  there was stiff competition amongst the teams

with some excellent bowling throughout the day.

Congratulations go to the winning team: David Smith (Cramlington),

Peter Duffy (Gosforth), and Herbie Blacklock (Burradon)

who were presented with the Open Triples Trophy, a crystal claret jug,

by the Club's President, Colin Bell.

Many thanks to Brian Hardcastle who donated the prize money

in memory of his Wife, Councillor Winnie Lowes.

The prize money was shared between the winning team, the runners-up,

and also the two losing semi-finalists.

Special thanks also go to members of the Committee who organised the day,

to everyone who donated the raffle prizes,

and to the ladies for providing the excellent refreshments throughout the day.

Spring Open Jumbles

Saturday 23 April 2016

Despite the chilly weather and the odd rain/sleet shower,

together with varying amounts of sunshine,

there was an excellent, record turnout of 39 players for the Opening Jumbles

at the start of the 2016 season.

This year’s Open Jumbles was dedicated to the memory of our

fellow bowler and friend, Terry McBriarty.

A special trophy, in Terry’s name,  was handcrafted by David Smith

which was presented to the winner,

Alan Hudspeth by the Club’s President, Colin Bell.

The results of the game are as follows:

Winner: Alan Hudspeth - +19 shots

Second: Ken Dixon - +18 shots

Third: John Sutherland - +16 shots

Congratulations!

Special thanks to David Smith for making this splendid trophy,

which will be presented to the winner of future Spring Open Jumbles.
